As God’s People

Today’s Reading: Psalm 100

Shout triumphantly to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. Acknowledge that the Lord is God. He made us, and we are His – His people, the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the Lord is good, and His love is eternal; His faithfulness endures through all generations.

Reflection: The Lord God calls us to shout triumphantly unto Him. He calls us to serve Him with gladness and come before Him in joyful songs. We are to enter into His Presence, to give thanks to Him, to praise Him. And we are called to do all of these things in harmony as One People. As much as God desires to meet with us privately and personally, He also desires that we come to Him as a gathered Body of Christ. He connects all generations by His unending love. He unites us unto Himself as one flock, one family, one Church. He joins us together by the Truth of His Word and the Power of His Spirit to do His Will. We as believers in Christ please our God when we worship Him together.

Reflection Questions:

– Read Psalm 100. Imagine doing all of the actions in the Psalm by yourself. What would the experience be like? Now imagine you are doing these same things, but with 100 other people. How would the experience be different?

– What do you think is God’s purpose for gathering His people together instead of keeping them separated from each other? What is the benefit of serving and worshiping God together with other people instead of alone?

Prayer: Lord God, thank You for calling me Your own and for bringing me into Your Family. Thank You for showing me Your abounding love through Your Church. I pray that You continue to bring us closer together as we grow closer to You. Show us ways to draw near to You and to each other. I pray all of these things in Jesus’ Name, AMEN.

  1. Praise God… odd duck that I am I feel in congregation with all the believers before me… and those around the world… but it’s just not the communion that happens when in physical congregation praising God… I am so very grateful to God for giving me you and this one… I take everything good as a personal boon my maker did just for me… if it pleases you too that’s just gravy and proof of his greatness…

    1. Praise God! Yes, gathering in-person to worship and to serve God is indeed such a blessing, and especially now, is seen as much more valuable. Praise God for the times He’s allowed us to gather and also His grace to give us fellowship in other ways in-between.
