God Brings His Victory

Today’s Reading: Psalm 20

Now I know that the Lord gives victory to His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven with mighty victories from His right hand.

Psalm 20:6

Reflection: God is the One Who brings His people victory. Though they are weak, though they are helpless, He brings them to victory by His own might and strength. Remember the last days of slavery in Egypt, when by miracles and wonders the LORD rescued His people? While the Egyptian horses and chariots pursued Israel through the Red Sea, they could not stand against God’s strength to bring the waters down upon them. Remember the first days as inhabitants of Canaan, when God announced through His servant Moses that He would bring Israel to defeat other nations in the land? The other nations were much bigger and stronger than Israel, yet the LORD led them to victory after victory to possess the land He had promised them. Remember the Messiah Jesus, Who came as a newborn baby? He left His throne in Heaven to draw near to all who were drenched in sin and destined for death. Though they refused and despised Him, He conquered the grave for them. While they were still far off from Him, He died to bring them complete salvation.

This is why, in the day of trouble, we can be certain that the LORD will answer and send help to us. He is victorious in all His endeavors such that we can rejoice confidently in His Name. “I know that the LORD gives victory to His anointed.” I can look back in history and be certain of it. Oh, praise the LORD, praise the LORD Who saves!

Prayer: Loving and powerful God, You are the One Who brings victory. Though my enemies may surround me on every side, I need not fear them, for You are with me. You are my Fortress and Hiding Place, and You are my Victory, LORD. There is nothing You cannot do, no true help that You cannot bring. Thank You for Your mercy upon me to provide Your help. I need Your help every moment LORD. I cannot stand without it. Please help me to be mindful of Your victory, and to live confidently in it. I pray all these things in gratitude to You in Jesus’ Name, AMEN.
