True Happiness

Today’s Reading: Psalm 128

How happy is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in His ways!

Psalm 128:1

Reflection: The pursuit of happiness that leads to happiness is the pursuit that seeks to find the LORD. In Him is not only the gift of happiness, but of everlasting joy. In all other things, happiness is but a fleeting moment of pure contentment, only a second of bliss which soon dies and is replaced with the desire for it again. The world goes around and around in circles chasing after the fleeting feeling of happiness in things that do not last. But the one who seeks the LORD and desires to live a life for Him is given perpetual contentment that does not go away, but grows with every step that is taken nearer to God. How happy is this person! No longer do they pursue relentlessly to find happiness, unsure of if they will ever see it again. Instead the follower of God through His Son relishes true bliss freely, assured that no circumstance can take it away. This good cheer has not been earned, but has been given freely and generously by the LORD Who blesses richly and continually.

In the darkness, in the difficulty, the resolve to continue following after God brings true and continual happiness. Those who walk in his ways have chosen to walk the path of joy. Those who yield to His Will yield to the assurance of comfort and contentment in his safety. Those Who fear God need not fear anyone or anything else. As you go about your day today, go forth in the eternal happiness which is found in the ways of the LORD our God.

Prayer: Everlasting Father, what joy You bring at the thought of all that You are and all that You do. Your holiness is marvelous and Your mercy is boundless. Your love is generous, and You give it so freely. You keep us safe in Your care and surround us with Your peace and Presence. You are the great Blessor, Who blesses out of richness in grace. Thank You LORD, for bringing true contentment, for bringing true hope and sure salvation. I am grateful to behold You and to be reminded of Your goodness. Please accept my offering of thanks and praise to You. In Jesus’ holy Name I pray, AMEN.
