Today’s Reading: Psalm 148

Let them praise the name of the LORD, for his name alone is exalted; his splendor is above the earth and the heavens.

Psalm 148:13

Reflection: All of creation points to God’s glory. Everything He has made is called to give Him praise. God receives praise from all across the universe, from the heights of heaven to the depths of the sea. The sun, moon, and stars shine for Him at His command. The creatures which dwell on earth, great and small, testify to His power and wise design. Mountains and hills stand tall for Him, trees and wildlife blossom and flourish, wither and die as is pleasing to Him. Even the weather gives God glory. Hail, snow, lightning, and clouds hover about the earth to honor Him.

How much more, then, should we, God’s people, give praise to God! Just as the world ebbs and flows with the purpose of honoring the Lord, so should we be prompted every moment to act in praise, speak praises, and think thoughts of God. For we are the ones out of all creation who bear His image and likeness. We are the ones who have been called His people. It is a wonderful honor to join in with the movements of God’s created universe in exalting God for all He is and all He has done. As God’s greatness, faithfulness, and abounding love never cease to be poured out upon us, our praise to God should never stop!

Prayer: God, I praise You today. I look around at all that You have created in Your goodness and see how good You are. I marvel at Your design of the universe and remember that You are wise far beyond human understanding. I read about Your saving Grace and recall that You are far more loving than I deserve. Praise You, O Lord my God. I exalt Your Name and remember that there is no one like You. Please help me to praise You in all I do today. Keep in my mind the recollection of Your mighty works and saving power. I pray all of these things in the Name of Your precious Son, Jesus. AMEN.
